Introduction to the Five Elements

Get a taste of this wonderful wisdom tradition

This one day workshop will give you an opportunity to start exploring the ancient metaphorical model of the Five Elements and hopefully get a sense of how it may enrich both your life and your therapeutic practice. The day both stands on its own but can also be a stepping stone to the comprehensive Diploma in Creative Application of the Five Elements.

Practicalities

Cost: £70.

Dates: A Saturday in June 2025 from 10am to 4pm with one hour for lunch.

Location: TBC in South Hants.

Eligibility: This is open to both qualified and trainee Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Clinical Psychologists, Art Therapists etc. The workshop involves five hours of boundaried group discussions/sharing and paired (dyad) practices.

Technical: To view the supporting online resources, you'll need 1) A computer (laptop, PC, iMac, Chromebook etc) or tablet and 2) To use an existing, or create a new, Google account.

Preparation: Five hours reading about the key concepts, watching videos and doing a couple of preparatory activities.

Learning outcomes

This workshop aims to give you a taste of how to apply the Five Elements metaphors to support your clinical work. It does this by giving you opportunities to:

• Start to explore what the Five Elements mean to you.

• Facilitate and receive a creative therapeutic intervention based on the Five Element metaphors.

• Experience the potential of embodied self-acupressure and tapping methods to promote self, client and co-regulation in the counselling space.

• Find out about further sources of information and training.
